African mask

This mask has been in my personal collection for 18 years. It has a little blue color in triangles above forehead. A cool piece.
Researching it I found similar mask with this description. Same design and a tad different hair. Ready for a new collector. A nice piece.

“The Senufo are an artistic people who live along the northernmost border of the Ivory Coast in western sub-saharan Africa. The Senufo have special castes for artists who are highly respected.
This kpelie mask a human face with projections all around is said to remind initiates of human imperfection. Danced by men associated with the Poro society these masks perform as female characters.

Approximately 14” Tall 6½" Wide and 5” Deep.

Each African mask is an "original" work of art individually hand carved; no two are exactly alike and the original nature of tribal art will be reflected by variances from the African mask as shown. The mask in the photo is the mask you will receive.
